THE STORY OF SILVER

HISTORY

People have worked silver for more than 5,000 years. It was struck into some of the earliest coins of the ancient world, and the Spanish silver dollar became one of the first currencies to circle the globe.

THE METAL

Silver is the most electrically and thermally conductive of all metals, and the most reflective when polished. Pure silver is soft, so sterling blends 92.5% silver with 7.5% other metals, usually copper, for strength.

SILVER AND MONEY

The British pound sterling began as a pound weight of silver, and in French the word argent still means both silver and money. For centuries, silver was the everyday currency of trade.

SILVER IN INDUSTRY

Today more than half of the silver mined each year goes to industry. It conducts the current in nearly every solar panel, phone and car, and its antimicrobial properties put it in wound dressings and water filters.

SYMBOL AND TRADITION

Across many traditions, silver belongs to the moon and carries its receptive, feminine energy, a metal of clarity and reflection. In folklore it stands for purity and protection, and it remains a classic gift for new beginnings. Silver spoons and coins have long been given to newborns for luck, and a 25th wedding anniversary is still celebrated as the silver one. In legend, silver was the one metal darkness could not withstand.

SILVER AND INTENTION

Silver reflects whatever light it meets. Wear the Plus as a mirror for your intentions: set one each morning, touch the Plus when you need a reminder, and let positive energy reflect back to you. Think positive. Manifest now.

AN INVESTMENT AND AN HEIRLOOM

Solid sterling is more than an accessory. Its worth lives in the metal itself, and unlike fashion jewelry it can be worn for a lifetime, then passed down for generations to come. Precious metal outlives us all: walk through any museum and you will find silver rings, cups and coins still shining after thousands of years.
