THE STORY

I was twenty and had just moved to New York when someone handed me The Secret. It was the first book that changed my belief system. Manifestation, the idea that you could practice attracting the life you want, felt like modern magic. So I practiced it, and I started being more aware of synchronicity, serendipity, and coincidence as life's hints that it was working.

I wanted something I could carry that belief in. I'd never worn jewelry, but I walked into a shop in SoHo and bought a simple stainless steel ring with a tiny diamond. Every time I looked at it, I told myself: Everything I want in the world is as small as this little diamond. I can hold it in the palm of my hand.

It was a powerful mantra, but it was long, and the diamond didn't feel like the right symbol for me. Between seatings at my first restaurant job as a host, I started sketching on napkins. The law of attraction is about attention and positive energy, so what better than the plus?

LucasPlus Plus Ring in sterling silver

The Plus Ring, my very first design.

My best friend from high school, a product design student, designed the 3D model of my very first idea for jewelry: the Plus Ring. I printed the first prototype in plastic through Shapeways. When exams buried him, he told me, "Lucas, you do it." So I did. I taught myself how to 3D design through YouTube tutorials and lots of practice, and I've been designing all my jewelry ever since.

I was ordering so many prints that Shapeways offered me a six-month internship at the Museum of Arts and Design, teaching people about 3D printing. Every week or two a new designer in residence arrived with a new program or technique, and it became a crash course. By the end, I felt like I could design anything. So I started a collection. Lots of plus symbols, of course.

And then: lots of pixels, an aesthetic homage to the technology that made my jewelry career possible. Without it, would I have ever become a jeweler? Manifesting a virtual design out of thin air, from my computer and the ether of the internet into our solid reality, with the click of a button and a few magic numbers on a credit card... pure magic.

LucasPlus Pixel Band and Pixel Cuff

The Pixel Band and Pixel Cuff.

From the start, I wanted these pieces to be more than decoration. They're tools for transformation, talismans that hold power when you give them a mantra and believe in your words, which in turn become actions, habits, character, and ultimately your destiny. It always starts with watching your thoughts.

Over time, that long diamond mantra distilled itself into two words: Think Positive. It's been the LucasPlus message from day one, and every piece I make is meant to help you transform and put positive energy out into the universe.

So choose your mantra, wear it, carry your beliefs with you, and go make the world a better place.
