THE STORY OF GOLD

HISTORY

Gold has been treasured for more than 6,000 years, from the burial mask of Tutankhamun to the first pure gold coins, struck in ancient Lydia. Nearly all the gold ever mined is still in use today, melted, recast and passed on.

THE METAL

Gold does not rust or tarnish, which is why ancient gold still shines today. 14K gold is 58.3% pure gold, alloyed with other metals for strength; those alloys also create yellow, rose and white gold.

GOLD AND MONEY

Gold has been money for millennia. Under the gold standard, the U.S. dollar could be exchanged for gold until 1971, and central banks still hold gold in reserve today.

GOLD IN INDUSTRY

Gold never corrodes, so a trace of it connects the circuits inside nearly every phone and computer. A thin gold film shields astronaut visors and satellites from the sun, and dentists have relied on it for centuries.

SYMBOL AND TRADITION

Many cultures associate gold with the sun and its radiant, masculine energy, with the sacred and with lasting value. It crowns royalty, gilds temples across Asia, and in alchemy it was the symbol of perfection. The ancient Egyptians called gold the flesh of the gods, and a 50th wedding anniversary is still celebrated as the golden one. A gold band is the oldest promise we wear: an unbroken circle that does not fade.

GOLD AND INTENTION

Gold is the metal of permanence. Choosing a solid gold Plus is a commitment to your intention, a reminder you can wear for decades that time will not dull. Think positive, wear the Plus, manifest now.

AN INVESTMENT AND AN HEIRLOOM

A solid gold Plus is an investment twice over. Gold has kept its value across thousands of years, and a piece made today can be passed down as a family heirloom for generations to come. Precious metal outlives us all: the gold in museum cases has outlasted the empires that made it.
